Creative Therapy
Have you ever heard of Art and/or music therapy?
Here you will find out a bit more of how the arts can positively affect your mental health and well being no matter your age, skill level, culture, or location. The arts are a part of life and there are ways you can combine them with self care and development.

What is Creative Therapy?
I think we can all agree it's important that we care for our bodies, minds and souls in whatever ways we can.
Art/music therapy is a great tool in addition to other things that we do to improve our overall well being, body, mind and soul. This kind of therapy accesses and activates the dreaming/imagination part of our brains. Practicing and participating in anything artistic/creative, activates memories, emotions, sensations, discovery, healing, thinking, learning, and more. Ever notice when doing something you love, time changes and drifts away?
This kind of therapy is a way of communicating even when we don’t have words. It keeps our brains active, including decision making, critical thinking, regulating emotions, etc. With the hands on use of creative elements, self discovery and insight can be made as the arts connect with us in a way that many other things don't. Also, when based on scripture, faith and hope, there's no telling what God will accomplish in your life through the creativity He gave to us in the first place.
The beautiful thing about the arts, is that there is no limit to age, race, skill, or health. It can make a difference in everyone's life.
What next?
In the coming weeks and months, I will begin to offer creative therapy sessions. A year ago, I received my certificate as an art therapy practitioner through Prime Learn schooling, as well as a coaching certificate in the mental health field through Light University. I do need to be clear that I am not a licensed therapist and am not covered through benefit plans.
As I go forward, I will be offering sessions (group and individual) with the "pay what you can" method. Your goals, growth, development, and well-being are the most important aspects of what I do. Art and music played a huge role in my healing journeys, and I have no doubt, that when others are given the opportunity like this, they will strive, and cost should not be a hindrance for people getting the help and care they need.
If you would like to find out more, please feel free to contact me, and stay tuned for future opportunities. I can even put your name on a waiting list so that you will be informed when the next group session is available, or if you are interested in a consultation for individual sessions, please contact me.
